Learn More About the Taoist Arts
Sea Cloud Hall offers more than just Tai Chi classes in Leeds. Our teachers also share Qigong, Taoist Yoga and traditional Kung Fu as part of the complete Lee Family Taoist Arts system. If you’re new to these practices, the sections below explain what each one involves and how they complement one another.
Taoist Arts in Leeds
Discover the Lee Family Taoist Arts
The Lee Family Taoist Arts are a unique system of traditional Chinese practices that combine movement, meditation and philosophy into a complete approach to personal development.
Rather than viewing Tai Chi, Qigong, Taoist Yoga and Kung Fu as separate disciplines, the Taoist Arts recognise that each practice develops different aspects of health, movement and awareness. Together they create a balanced path that can be followed throughout life.
At Sea Cloud Hall in Leeds, students are introduced to these arts gradually through structured beginner courses and regular weekly classes. Everyone progresses at their own pace, developing confidence while improving strength, flexibility, coordination and mental clarity.
The emphasis is not on competition or athletic performance. Instead, students are encouraged to explore how relaxed movement, mindful practice and consistent training can positively influence everyday life. Many people find that the benefits extend well beyond the classroom, helping them feel calmer, more balanced and more resilient in work, family life and daily challenges.
Whether you are interested in Tai Chi, Qigong, Taoist Yoga or the wider philosophy behind these practices, the Lee Family Taoist Arts provide a lifelong journey of learning and personal growth.
Tai Chi Classes in Leeds
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a centuries-old Chinese art that combines slow, flowing movement with relaxed breathing and mindful awareness. Although many people first encounter Tai Chi as a gentle form of exercise, it is also a complete system for improving balance, coordination, posture, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
At Sea Cloud Hall in Leeds, we teach the authentic Lee Family Taoist Arts tradition, where Tai Chi is practised as a method of developing both physical skill and mental clarity. Rather than simply memorising movements, students gradually learn how to move with greater efficiency, improve body awareness and cultivate a calm, focused mind.
Our Tai Chi classes in Leeds are designed to be welcoming to complete beginners. No previous experience is required and every movement can be adapted to suit different ages and levels of mobility.
Many students join our classes to reduce stress, improve balance or become more active, while others enjoy the meditative nature of the practice or wish to explore the deeper principles behind Tai Chi. Whatever your reason for starting, our experienced teachers will guide you step by step through a structured learning programme.
Whether your goal is better health, increased confidence in movement or simply finding an enjoyable activity that you can continue for years to come, our beginner Tai Chi classes in Leeds provide a friendly and supportive place to begin.
Qigong Classes in Leeds
What is Qigong?
Qigong (sometimes spelled Chi Kung) is one of the oldest systems of health and wellbeing in Chinese culture. The word combines Qi, meaning life energy or vitality, and Gong, meaning skill developed through regular practice.
Our Qigong classes in Leeds focus on gentle movements, relaxed breathing, posture and mindful attention. Unlike Tai Chi, which involves learning flowing movement sequences, Qigong often uses simpler exercises that are easy to learn and can provide noticeable benefits from the very first class.
Many people practise Qigong to reduce stress, improve flexibility, develop better posture and support their overall physical and mental wellbeing. The movements are slow, accessible and suitable for people of almost any age or level of fitness.
At Sea Cloud Hall, Qigong is taught as part of the wider Lee Family Taoist Arts tradition. Students learn practical breathing methods, standing exercises and moving meditations that help develop relaxation, coordination and body awareness.
Qigong complements Tai Chi beautifully, and many students enjoy practising both together. While Tai Chi develops flowing movement and martial principles, Qigong places greater emphasis on cultivating calmness, improving breathing and creating a stronger connection between mind and body.
If you’re looking for beginner-friendly Qigong classes in Leeds, our structured courses provide an excellent introduction in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Kung Fu Classes in Leeds
Traditional Kung Fu for All Ages
Kung Fu is often associated with speed, power and spectacular demonstrations, but traditional Kung Fu is about much more than fighting techniques. It develops discipline, coordination, confidence and physical fitness while encouraging patience, respect and continual self-improvement.
At Sea Cloud Hall, our Kung Fu classes in Leeds are taught within the Lee Family Taoist Arts tradition, where martial skill is developed alongside health, balance and personal growth. Students learn practical techniques, body mechanics, footwork and partner exercises while also improving flexibility, posture and overall movement quality.
Many of the principles found in Kung Fu also support progress in Tai Chi and Qigong. Strong posture, relaxed power, coordinated movement and mindful attention are developed across all of the Taoist Arts, creating a balanced and well-rounded approach to training.
Our beginner-friendly classes welcome adults and children with no previous martial arts experience. Training is structured, supportive and suitable for a wide range of abilities, allowing everyone to progress at their own pace.
Whether your goal is improved fitness, greater confidence, learning a traditional martial art or becoming part of a welcoming community, our Kung Fu classes in Leeds offer an enjoyable way to challenge yourself while developing skills that last a lifetime.
